Such a lot of history in one place. However, when the Craven family took over in 1622, things seemed to calm down and they spent many years developing the Abbey and adding new buildings, the West Wing being one in particular. The famous landscape gardener, ‘Capability’ Brown, re-designed the surrounding gardens and land and other parts of the Abbey were re-built over the following years.

...mbledon, London and take place over two weeks in late June – early July. Tennis became popular because of the waning interest in croquet and the Club decided to organise a tennis tournament to pay for the repair of its pony roller, used to maintain the lawns. It must have been popular as its still going strong! Although you may enjoy the tennis I think people love the strawberries and cream too that are famously served there!
