...o owned a Ferrari between them and this was often parked in the drive, as the band shared it. My dad put Kev’s name forward to re-wire the house (as he had trained as an electrician) and he spent the next few weekends fixing up the electrics alongside builders, plumbers and carpenters. The builders were none too pleased about this and went round to the newly finished house to take back anything they could find that was theirs – they also slashed the tyres on the Ferrari. These were not people to mess around with! Kev...

...brand new Ferrari!   The Ferrari that had more photos than the bride!   However, the party was great and the band a huge success. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves and drank the bar dry. My dad brought down the promised bottles of champagne that he had been saving for all those years and put them on our table. After a while he noticed that everyone was happily drinking the cheaper pomagne, which we had bought for the toast, so he took all the bottles back upstairs to his room! We didn’t even get one for ourselves Later on we had the speeches and, as I have said before, our best man was in the entertainment industry and was a professional perfor...

...with the Ferrari   Finally, the ceremony was over and I was married to Kev (not Derek) and as we walked out into the sunlight I felt a huge sense of relief that everything had gone according to plan! However, the day was slightly marred by the fact that my mum wasn’t there and because she had been asked not to come, she had retaliated by not letting my little brother Piers come either. When the photos were being taken, Gavin, my other brother, was turning the car round and missed being in any of the shots! So out of my whole family, there was just me and my dad in the photos! But more annoying was the fact that all the guests were rushing to have their p...

He also took Piers go-kart racing at nearby Chasewater Park in Cannock – more about that in future blogs! Don’t miss next week’s instalment: Ventures New If you would like to follow my story from the begi...
