...to go to Greece to see all the temples but was a bit disappointed when he got there.  Most of the temples were in ruins and once you’ve seen one ruin you’ve pretty much seen them all!  The Acropolis was quite impressive though.  I loved being abroad – the weather was so hot and the sea was always warm.  Cold climes don’t suit me as I feel the cold so much so I would always be outdoors as soon as the sun was out - most of my summer holidays were spent in the gardens weeding whilst listening to Radio 1 on my little portable radio, although usually I dreaded the school holidays as it meant I was stuck at home for six weeks, rarely seeing my friends....

They married eighteen months later in 1863 and she seems to have been popular amongst the ladies of Britain, who copied her style of dress. Her title was Princess of Wales from 1863 to 1901 when the Queen died, the longest that anyone has ever held that title. Together she and her husband had six children although the sixth child, Alexander, sadly died within a day of being born.
