Party On! #18

Posted by Viv Wilson on 1st June 1976 in Early Days |

...t all the candles in the church as we thought it looked really pretty and brightened the place up a bit. Oh dear – that was definitely not the right thing to do! A strongly worded letter was sent to my dad from the vicar telling him in no uncertain terms that he should be disciplining his children a lot better than he was. ...t all the candles in the church one day to brighten it up.  I hoped he didn’t remember!  I also hoped he didn’t know that it was Gavin and I who had sabotaged the many Christmas and Easter high teas at the vicarage after the church services, when we would take the sandwiches apart and put them back together with a different half! We also had the added problem of my parents – my dad had to give me away so he had to be there, but my mum would surely want to see me married too, even if we weren’t really on speaking terms.  Where would we seat them?  How would we keep them apart without a huge argument starting – we really didn’t want this on our we...

...hter than candles!  One floor down they went through the green baize door and along the bedroom corridor where the family slept.  The Derby Room was at the far end on the right overlooking the direction of Derby, hence the name.  All the rooms were named after the towns they faced, something Molly found quite appealing. As they approached the door they stopped and listened very carefully and as they couldn’t hear anything they carefully opened the door to look inside.  Molly clung onto Jenny as they peered around the door.  Just as she thought, there was no-one in there and indeed, it wasn’t even a bedroom but a storeroom for unused furniture and the li...
