...o ‘Here comes the bride’. However, as Kev had not attended the rehearsal (remember, he was fixing someone’s shower!), he didn’t have a clue what was going on or where to stand or anything! When we came to say our vows, the vicar got his name wrong and so I nearly married a ‘Derek’. There was much whispering at the front as we told him the correct name. Again, when I put my ring on the Bible, the vicar thought it was two rings as I had a Russian wedding ring with three bands. He started to say ‘with these rings……’ and once again, there was much whispering at the front as we explained that it was only one ring! And then, just as we were on ou...

...Streaking comes to Britain!   Incidentally Uttoxeter is famous for quite a few reasons, one being that Samuel Johnson, the famous diarist, used to help his father on a market stall in the town centre each week.  Another is that Mary Howitt, the writer of the famous poem 'The Spider and the Fly', used to live in the town and has a road named after her! I was not an academic by any means and hated my schooldays. I was constantly being teased for being too thin, too quiet, for wearing large clothes (my mum always bought the uniform 2 sizes too big so it would last) and for living in a stately home. ...Streaking comes to UK!   I was not an academic by any means and hated my schooldays. I was constantly being teased for being too thin, too quiet or because I lived in a stately home. (This was from the teachers too!) My concentration was awful and I tended to daydream a lot, then I wouldn’t know what was going on in the lessons. As a child my maths was terrible so my mum got a private tutor in to help me out. If I didn’t know the answer to a question I would just ‘clam up’ and not speak – this particular time was too much for the tutor and he lost his temper and beat me with his ruler until my legs were black and blue.
