An alabaster carving
The only time we used the Library ourselves was on Christmas Day when there would be a roaring log fire in the marble fireplace and cosy rugs on the parquet floor. This was the first room in the Hall to have parquet floors but these now extend to the principal rooms in the house. The wallpaper is over 150 years old and the white ornamental ceiling has a hexagonal design which, in its simplicity, forms a contrast to the richness of the Ballroom ceiling next door.
