One Easter we decided to hire a small steam train to give rides to the families that came. It was set up on the lower terrace and ran from one end to the other. It was a real hit with the bank holiday visitors and we enjoyed a few free rides too! My dad also put his old racing car in one of the rooms with a display of photos and newspaper cuttings from his sixties tours around Europe’s race tracks. This appealed to the male visitors while the ladies enjoyed the ever increasing collection of Victorian costumes around the house along with an antique sewing machine and a musical box which played lovely tunes when wound up.

...attend at Easter and Christmas. I have to say we were non too keen on going to church as we had to be on our best behaviour (something which didn’t sit easily with us as you’ve probably guessed!). Afterwards though we all went across the road to the vicarage for tea and biscuits. There was always plenty of other food too so we were happy to go on special occasions. However, the people that attended the church were all incredibly old (or so it seemed to us) and very posh and well spoken so for some reason this would set our minds to impish thoughts! We decided to swap all the sandwiches round one time, putting different tops to different bottoms; we also lick...More Tea Vicar? #12
