...t all the candles in the church as we thought it looked really pretty and brightened the place up a bit.  Oh dear – that was definitely not the right thing to do!  A strongly worded letter was sent to my dad from the vicar telling him in no uncertain terms that he should be disciplining his children a lot better than he was.  My dad hit the roof about this as he didn’t like people telling him what to do and he was by no means a religious man and couldn’t understand what all the fuss was about.  We still got a telling off from our mum though. The church was also where the remains of our ghost was buried – the small child whose cries we often heard. ...

Thank goodness the walls are so thick in those old houses that no-one could hear what was going on!   We did feel a bit guilty as we had dared them to try it when we were quite happy to stay at the party, but I have to admit I never thought  they would actually hear the same things that I had – maybe our parties had kept the ghosts up! ...t all the candles in the church one day to brighten it up.  I hoped he didn’t remember!  I also hoped he didn’t know that it was Gavin and I who had sabotaged the many Christmas and Easter high teas at the vicarage after the church services, when we would take the sandwiches apart and put them back together in a different order! We also had the added problem of my parents – my dad had to give me away so he had to be there, but my mum would surely want to see me married too, even if we weren’t really on speaking terms.  Where would we seat them?  How would we keep them apart without a huge argument starting – we really didn’t want this on our wed...
