...ms in the West Wing and then back down to the Ground Floor.  Somehow dad managed to confuse him so much that he missed out 2 floors altogether and actually thought the house was half the size it really was!  By the time he finished I think he really did feel sorry for us and we never paid the correct council tax bill for the place – at least not for that first year anyhow!   If you would like to follow my story from the beginning, click here and please share with your friends. Hallowe'en Hauntings #100

...Going to sleep in a big old house is quite scary when you’re young but going to sleep in a big old house that’s haunted is even more scary!!  As we approach Hallowe'en my mind has gone back to that first winter at Hoar Cross Hall and all the scary things that happened - and that was without any trick or treaters in those days!  We quickly realised that we weren’t the only inhabitants of the house when we moved there in the 1970s.  Every time there was a windy night I could hear a window banging in the attic – all night long it kept me awake.  The next day I would go upstairs to the attics to close it but there would be no windows open or even loose....

...over the West Wing apartment when the tenants left, leaving my dad with one less rent.  She was also putting Yale locks on all the rooms that she used in the house as well as any storage rooms used for the banquets.  This infuriated my dad who obviously didn’t have access to them once the locks went on.  One of these rooms was the cupboard off the Entrance Hall which held the meter boxes, so we now had no access to the electrics if anything went wrong – or if we wanted to sabotage the banquets again! ...ve in the West Wing Apartment and was now seeing the singer who sang at the banquets.  My dad sat on his own most nights with only the parrot for company.  When he found out about the singer it started a fresh load of outbursts from him as he now felt that the pair of them were trying to take his house and business off him!  He constantly ranted on about it and often threatened to shoot the singer with his gun – I don’t think he would have done but then again, with his temper, who knows!  This latest twist in the story did nothing for my dad’s sanity and my mum was still hoping to have him committed and kept making appointments for him with the psychia...
