I have always kept a diary and during the time of the banquets I used to keep accurate records of how many people came along to them. When I told this to my dad he jumped up and down in glee and quickly informed the tax office! A meeting was arranged with them and I went along with my dad (and my diaries) to prove the numbers. It seemed a bit weird at the time sitting in a small room having to show some stranger my diaries but I showed them the guest numbers and how many banquets there had been over the years and I think that was enough for them.
