...ed! The apparition floated away and she ran down the corridor to check our rooms – we were all fast asleep! The child appeared at the top of the stairs on several more occasions making us all a bit wary of leaving the lounge!
On making a few enquiries with the Meynell family apparently a child had died whilst in the care of a nursemaid. The story goes that she had left her post to meet up with the footman and while she was gone the child had had a fit and died. We found her grave in the local churchyard – I think she was about 8 years old. All very sad but it didn’t stop me being absolutely terrified every time I went to bed. Climbing the huge...
