Coming Of Age #21

...separate businesses to run, plus it was their home, so they continued to live at each end of the house trying to avoid one another! And so I came of age at a party where everyone was dressed as a Roman wearing a toga!  It was great fun until someone decided to open the window and walk along the ledge.  I’ve mentioned in previous blogs that me and my brothers would walk along the window ledges when we were children (with perhaps smaller feet) but this was a fully grown man who’d had a few drinks and thought it was hilarious to stand outside the window jigging up and down at us!  We all ran to the window and tried to entice him in without scaring him too...

...ilings in businesses which held a Public Entertainment Licence.  We found this out to our cost about twenty years later when our own nightclub in Leicester was subjected to a ceiling inspection – Kev asked the inspector why this strange law had been made as it seemed a bit pointless and an unnecessary expense for us.  He was told that it was due to some incident in a stately home near Lichfield back in the 70s when a ceiling moulding had fallen on somebody’s head.  Imagine the looks on our faces when we realised it was our own stately home he was referring to – this inspection cost us £1500 - and all because of my dad!   Don’t miss next week’s i...
