...Christmas carols whilst standing down the staircase, giving everyone a good view of them.  Viv thought they looked and sounded very Christmassy and she and Gavin stood watching them as their neighbours ate the seasonal savouries whilst listening to the bells.  If only they could have seen the strange faces they pulled as they ate and drank the wine! Perhaps they should have had more tea, vicar?   Don't miss next week's instalment:  "Ghosts of Christmas past"   If you would like to follow my story from the beginning, click here and please feel free to share with your friends. One of the posh ladies asked me once if I would “be a dear and pass some of the food around”. “What did your last slave die of?” I thought and as we were in the middle of a game I didn’t want to do her bidding so we hid under the table and undid the shoelaces of people standing nearby! We were so naughty – hopefully the vicar forgave us, as vicars should!   People of a certain age may remember that in 1973 there was a big campaign to plant trees in this country and the catch line was “Plant a tree in 73”. Towards the end o...

...Christmas carols as they all stood down the staircase. Viv thought they looked rather nice but oh! what an awful sound came from the bells as they started the first carol. The bellringers stopped and looked at each other in dismay then started to swap bells to get them back in the right order. Viv looked at Gavin and they started to giggle as people wondered what had gone wrong. They shuffled to the back of the crowd listening to more groans about the food and the awful mulled wine. The last thing they heard was the verger choking on a cake as they quickly hid behind a pair of long curtains in the dining room..................... More tea vicar?   Don't miss...
