...the youth charity the Princes Trust in 1976 and also owns and runs the Duchy of Cornwall estates. He married Camilla Parker-Bowles in 2005 and together they will now rule the new monarchy from Buckingham Palace supported by his son and heir William and other members of the Royal family. We wish them well in their future together.

...sold for charity. This is the album that I found in the Library of Hoar Cross Hall - perhaps Queen Mary brought it as a gift when she visited in the 1920s? In it are photos of King Edward VII and other royals spending time at Balmoral and Sandringham during their holidays – a rare insight into how the royal family spent their leisure time, which in those days would never have been seen before.
It also shows their travels on ships to Norway and visits to Alexandra's family in Denmark. Photos of boat trips down the Thames and tea parties with Lords and Ladies of the day are in abundance in this album along with pictures of her grandsons, the future Edward VI...

...Hoar Cross Hall was clearly a very different house in the Victorian era compared to today. Like other country houses it has not been immune from the social and economic changes affecting all walks of life over the last hundred years.
At the beginning of Queen Victoria’s reign in 1837 the local landowner with his country house and estate was the focal point of the community, often dispensing law, charity and education. Alexandra enjoyed photography as a hobby and in 1908 put together an album of her personal photos to be sold for charity. In it are photos of her husband King Edward VII and other royals spending time at Balmoral and Sandringham during their holidays – a rare insight into how the royal family spent their leisure time, which in those days would never have been seen before.

...Here is a final selection of photos from the album of Queen Alexandra, found in the Library of Hoar Cross Hall. Alexandra enjoyed photography as a hobby and in 1908 put together this album of personal photos of her family to be sold for charity. It is a fascinating insight into another world, long gone now. As we lead up to the Coronation of King Charles III it is a reminder of all that has gone before and all that is to come in the future with our hard working royals.
