...an Amazon parrot! (From the jungle, not the online store!) Apparently he came as part of an antique deal from a dealer who owed my dad some money. My dad agreed to take the parrot as settlement believing he could make a profit on him as parrots were worth quite a lot of money back then – however, he never got sold as my dad became quite attached to him; perhaps he thought it would keep him company when Gavin was at school. I had pretty much left home now, returning at weekends and Piers lived with my mum, so we were all in different parts of the house – good job it’s a big place I hear you say!
