...e about a streaker that had run through the town the day before – what was this?  A man running naked for the fun of it?  On further investigation I found that this was the latest craze from America – but why anyone would want to do it in our cold country was beyond me!  I was not an academic by any means and hated my schooldays.  I was constantly being teased for being too thin, too quiet, for wearing large clothes (my mum always bought the uniform 2 sizes too big so it would last) and for living in a stately home. (This was from the teachers too!)   My concentration was awful and I tended to daydream a lot, then I wouldn’t know what was going on i...

On further investigation I found that this was the latest craze from America – but why anyone would want to do it in our cold country was beyond me!   Streaking comes to Britain!   Incidentally Uttoxeter is famous for quite a few reasons, one being that Samuel Johnson, the famous diarist, used to help his father on a market stall in the town centre each week.  Another is that Mary Howitt, the writer of the famous poem 'The Spider and the Fly', used to live in the town and has a road named after her!
