Hi everyone I've just seen that a few people have been reading this blog from 2018, but discovered that the YouTube video was missing as the link was to the original post that unbelievably somehow got deleted with all those views (47,000)  :(  Anyway, I've just updated the link to the re-uploaded video, so this isn't a new post for this week, but just so it works for anyone reading it now for the first time! -  Don't miss tomorrows blog - The Kitchen Maid's Story! <><><><><><><><><><><><><>><><><><><><><><><><><&g...

...see in my video tour - click here In 2000 Piers married his girlfriend Lindsey and we had a wedding lunch the next day at the Hall plus a tour of all the rooms new and old. It was quite fascinating to see the spa and treatment rooms which are now in the old basement. The pool is in the old Servants Hall which in turn became my dad’s workshop and the treatment rooms are in other parts of the old servants’ quarters – it was barely recognisable! In 2005 we went back again with my mum and two of our children, Lee and Hannah. Again, it was great fun to explore the house and grounds and show my children where I had lived as a child. I was particularly fascinat...

...the House video (see link below) you can see how it looks now, which is almost how it looked back in Lady Dorothy's day. Lady Dorothy’s daughter, also called Dorothy, was born in 1908 and was an accomplished pianist and conductor of the Hoar Cross choral society and had a life long interest in the arts and music. She also played the pipe organ in the chapel at the Hall for the morning services there. However, this young lady didn’t want to conform to the usual things of her society such as parties and husband hunting! She begged her parents to let her train for some useful occupation and they finally agreed to let her train as a secretary in London. She wen...

...make the video for the tour of the house to accompany my blogs.  Again, it was lovely to be there and spend two whole days having a good look around the house that held so many memories, good and bad, for me.  This time the grounds had had a lot of time spent on them and they were back to how they must have looked in the Victorian days when the Meynell family first lived there.  Whilst filming the rooms it really made me appreciate what a beautiful house this was to live in and how fortunate we were to have such an unusual childhood living here. Click here to see my video tour of the Hall and grounds! Not long after we visited in 2005 my mum got Alzheimer...
