...incess of Wales, were on a visit to a nearby town and they stopped overnight at the Hall. However, that visit entailed the building of a new bathroom for them on the first floor near to the guest bedrooms – so quite an expensive visit! I hope they used it well!
Running under part of the Shugborough estate is the Trent Valley Railway Line which was finished in 1847. When I say ‘under’ I mean literally – a 777 yard tunnel was built called the Shugborough Tunnel so as to have limited visual impact. The tunnel entrances are listed Grade II and are highly decorated.
